Welcome to Grade Eight! Grade Eight is a crucial year in any
student's development, with high school just around the corner.
I am happy to announce that we are working hard and seeing success.
Kudos to Michael and Jason for earning Authors of the Month recognition
for their book reviews. December Calendar Hall of Fame recognition goes to
Jason, Nailah, Michael, Brandon, Raina, Bianca, Simone, Gabrielle, Dupree,
Jessica, and Jasmyn. Congratulations to Dupree, our Student of the
Month ; Joshua, our Peacemaker for the Month; and Alteah, our PRO of the
Month. Thanks to Student Council, who does a wonderful job leading us
in the PRO skits that help us practice our virtues each month. For January,
they are telling us about the virtue of faith. I am also happy to announce
that Josh, Michael, Alteah, Simone, Jason, Nailah, and Bianca will again
participate in West Catholic's International Studies program. Their next
session is in Feb. Good job to those students who had perfect attendance for
trimester one: Jason, Juwan, Dupree, Alteah, Alexis M., Raina, and Alexis S.
We are proud of these students who earned first honors: Jason, Joshua,
Nailah, Debrica, and Simone. We congratulate our second honors students,
Victoria and Michael. Good effort certificates went to Dupree, Alteah,
Bianca, and Raina. The Christmas Pageant was simply beautiful, and I
appreciate the time that so many of our eighth graders put into being a part
of this annual tradition. I am proud of all the eighth graders who
volunteered to babysit for the Home and School activity. Soon I will announce
the students who will participate in the Academic Bowl, sponsored by West.
WOW- we came in first place for door decorating and third place for St.
Vincent collection. What a great job our decorating committee did! Our door
