SALSA stands for "Students Advocating Life without Substance Abuse". SALSA
members are student leaders and role models who discuss their priorities and
healthy lifestyle choices with elementary school students.
Purpose:
A support group for students who advocate life without tobacco,
alcohol or other drugs and to serve as role models for younger students.
Objectives:
1 - to meet with other students who advocate non-use of
tobacco, alcohol and other drugs for support and reinforcement of their
decision.
2 - to make presentations to younger students at other schools to
promote the idea that successful students have chosen not to use tobacco,
alcohol or other drugs.
3 - to have fun, be involved in school activities
and in the community and to enjoy living a healthy, happy, productive
lifestyle.
SALSA's slogan is "Wild Sobriety" and DOES NOT focus on the smoking,
drinking and drug-taking habits of others, but instead on the joys of
choosing NOT to use.
"The difference between an inspiration and a Role Model
is...........................................CONSISTENCY".
SALSA meets every Wednesday in Room 254.
