The most important aspect of my role as a school counselor is to act as a
student advocate. This advocacy can take many forms. I may need to serve as a
referral source for another professional, or I may need to be an active line
of communication with parents. I may be the faculty who needs to communicate
individual learning related needs to other teachers. I serve as a liaison and
a mediator much of the time.
Open, honest and timely communication is very important to me and I believe
that parents, educators and community members work together to help raise
children to healthy functioning adults.
