Why are children expected to keep a planner?
Organization is essential to a successful year. Children are
expected to record any homework or information from the planner
on display in the classroom in order to be prepared for class the
next day. Writing down assignments avoids the possibility of not
being prepared for class. It also helps students to be
responsible and organized.
Will children have homework everyday?
I generally do not give huge amounts of homework, so what I do
give is expected to be completed. There may be days when
homework is very light, or they may have homework in no more than
3 subjects. I generally do not give homework over the weekends,
unless it is a long -term project or we have an upcoming test.
Can I bring in treats for birthdays?
Birthdays are special and can be celebrated. I do ask that you
please
send in a note in advance so that I can arrange time in the
scheduled day. Also, school policy dictates that you send in only
the required amount of treats per classroom. Students will not be
allowed to circulate the building and pass out treats to other
rooms and teachers.
Do we go outside for recess when weather is questionable?
Please see that your child is dressed appropriately for the
weather conditions. Since we sometimes don't know what the
weather will be during our recess time, it is important that
children BE PREPARED!!!FYI:
Recess volunteers are always needed and welcome.
What do I do if my child forgets a book at school?
Copies of the textbooks are kept on file at the Back Mountain
Library. It is also a good idea for students to have a homework
buddy. Children can then call others if they have questions
concerning assignments. Children are not allowed back into their
classrooms for books after school hours!
When are parent/teacher conferences scheduled?
Conferences are scheduled as needed and after the first and third
marking periods. Please see the school calendar for specific dates.
How do I arrange for early dismissal?
If your child is to be dismissed from school earlier than the
regular time, send a note with your child stating the time of
dismissal. You are to pick the child up in the office.

Can children bring in party invitations for other students?
Children are allowed to bring in and pass out invitations ONLY if
there is an invitation for ALL students ( male or female). If
some students are excluded, parents will be expected to deliver
invitations via mail, to avoid hurt feelings.
Whap happens if my child loses or damages books or school property?
In the event a book or school item is lost or damaged, the parent
is sent a replacement cost for that item and is expected to pay
for its replacement.
This includes curriculum related books, library books, math
materials, etc.
Report cards are held until obligations are met.
Can my child bring in DS games or trading cards?
DS games are not permitted in school since they are expensive and
can easily be broken or lost. Anything of value- games, cards,
etc. should be left home. The classroom teacher or administrator
will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.
