Hello,

My name is Kevin West and I am a science teacher at Dallas Senior High

Mission For The Class and Course Syllabus

     Introduction to matter and energy students will explore the physical 
aspects of the world around us, concentrating on chemistry and physics.  
This will be accomplished through lecture, research, current events, and lab 
activities.  

     It is the responsibility of the students to come to class prepared, on 
time, and ready to learn.  Students should be bringing work home every night 
for completion and for studying.  Studying each night will be essential in 
the student's success.  So, parents should not accept any excuse for not 
producing this behavior at home.  It is the responsibility of the student to 
obtain all class work that has been missed due to absence from class for any 
reason.  Students participating in educational field trips, family 
vacations, or sports are to obtain assignments prior to departure.  Each 
student will have two study partners for help.  

     Students updated grades are provided throughout the semester.  Students 
are required to keep track of their grades by adding up their total points 
earned and dividing by the total possible points (straight percentage 
grading policy).

     Homework is due the next day by first period in Room 30.  Homework 
should be placed in the appropriate class folder.

     If a student is absent on the day a lab report is due they should turn 
their report in the day they return.  If a student is absent the day of a 
lab, he/she must still complete the lab report.  The student should obtain 
data from their lab partner.

     It is the intention of the high school faculty and administration to 
help students focus on their courses of study.  The faculty websites were 
created simply as a means to facilitate that focus and in no way are a 
substitute for school attendance, student-teacher verbal communication or 
scholastic responsibility.  In addition, because of intrinsic differences in 
each course, individual websites will vary.
