I teach all of the Family & Consumer Science classes and therefore
teach almost every child in the Dallas Middle School at least once each
year. First quarter I also teach Study Skills to a third of the 6th grade,
Money Matters to a third of the 7th grade, and Career Awareness to a third
of the 8th grade.
This will be my thirteenth year at Dallas Middle School. Before this
assignment I taught at Dallas High School for fourteen years.
I also provide the costumes for the high school drama productions. This will
be my twenty-third year as Assistant Drama Coach. I am looking forward to
working in the new high school auditorium. I have also costumed
plays for Misericordia University. I enjoy theater and music. I also spend
a lot of time sewing and gardening. During the summer I enjoy getting lost in
a good mystery book. A weakness is chocolate. Dark, of course!
The mission of the Family & Consumer Science classes this year is to develop
a desire in each student to learn about nutrition as they learn about their
responsibility of making wise food choices to keep their bodies healthy which
better enables them to be successful students. As an enhancement of the
nutrition lessons basic cooking skills will be taught through the preparation
of some simple recipes.
