4-B Class Information and Homework Map test was handed back on Thursday the 24th...nineteen A tests out of 26 students...not bad at all! Congratulations to the dozen who had a perfect test! Well done, well done.We will be going on a field trip on Friday the 1st to Pymatuning State Park. We will be leaving school at 9:05. Students will need to either carry their lunch or have their child buy a bagged lunch. Order forms were sent home on 5/21. We will be back by 2:15. Students will be able to feed the carp at the spillway. They are welcome to bring a loaf of breadd or two along for the ride. One of the kids asked what type of bread the fish liked??!! Gotta love it! I said any surplus leftover bread will be great. On Wednesday, Quest students from FMS will be visiting our 4th grade classrooms to share their presentations for the end of the year. We are looking forward to their presentations.Next Monday, Laura Mauroni, a former parent of ours who is employed at St. Vincents in the pathology department will be doing a presentation for us on body systems. She has generously given a day of her vacation and done a lot of prep each year in order to give our students the opportunity to see body organs and gain a better understanding of how some of our body systems work. Its quite an opportunity and we hope it gives students an idea about future professions out there in the health field. We also depend on some great high school students who help with carrying in containers and setting them up to assist her in her presentation. We also appreciate their muscle power and time. The Fourth Grade Class will have a Moving-On Ceremony on Wednesday, the 6th at 10:00 AM in the gym. It lasts about 40 minutes. Students should wear play clothes and have everything they need to swim at FHS in the afternoon. The last day of school is Thursday the 7th and dismissal is shortly before noon. It has been a great year and I'm grateful to all our families who sent their children to school each day well prepared and ready to learn. You'll do nothing more important to prepare your child for a successful adulthood than help them develop a desire and appreciation for learning. Thanks for all the great teamwork and have a great summer and middle school experience. MATH We are going to begin reviewing all the material we have learned this year. It will be an opportunity to work through skills one last time this school year.We will be continuing to work on double digit divisor division along with introducing students to mean, median, and mode this week.Beginning with the concert week, math homework will probably scale back to 2-3 days a week. Assignments will continue to be posted on the website, assignment board, and hopefully in your child's assignment book. For on-line access to the math book, click on the link below. Passwords are found in your child's assignment book.http://www.pearsonsuccessnet.com Monday: Tuesday : Wednesday: Thursday : LANGUAGE ARTS The students are going to be working on a tall tales story this week and will then be creating their own tall tale using a piece of software called "Hollywood High."We will be working on a National Geographic magazine this week which includes a story about land lighthouses. We will also take a good look at the Erie Land Lighthouse with the help of a visual PowerPoint of the facility from the ground and up at the top.Homework for LA:SCIENCE. We are going to be moving into a study of the Solar System which is Chapter 8 in our book. We will be doing a number of activities along with the study of our Solar System. We have a great set of planets hanging in our pod that have been hung based on some scale to give our students an idea of the distance each planet is from the other as well as the sun.If time permits, we'll also be doing a reader's theater about the Solar System.GO TO THIS WEBSITE, CLICK ON SCIENCE, CLICK ON OUR BOOK, AND THEN CLICK ON INTERNET LINKS. THERE ARE REVIEW ACTIVTIES FOR EACH LESSON IN EACH CHAPTER. THIS WOULD BE A GOOD REVIEW FOR THE SCIENCE TEST OR AS A REVIEW AS WE COMPLETE A LESSON IN A NEW CHAPTER. .http://www.macmillanmh.comSOCIAL STUDIES: Chapters are over and we will be concluding the year by learning more about the upcoming Olympics in London. Each child will have a packet which will include a nice schedule of all events and the days they happen. (That will be a great resource to keep near the TV). Our lessons will center around the geography of the area as well as the history of the Olympics and Great Britian.Access to the Social Studies book: http://www.eharcourtschool.com/Log in is: sfes4 Password is: fes4OTHER HOMEROOM INFORMATION:
