Most of the progress and development of skills learned for Computer Literacy
Class will take place during our assigned class time. The programs we use in
class can not be accessed in other classrooms or from home. However, I would
encourage additional research and keyboarding practice outside of class.
Extra time is available for make-up during Homebase and after school. I
encourage students to come in: high skills are achieved by hard work and
further practice. I highly recommend parental supervision of student
computer use at home. Purchasing quality programs that assist in learning
keyboarding and problem solving skills has shown to help in the student
success.
The Programs we use in Computer Educationa are:
AES: Applied Educational Systems instructs students in IT Informational
Technology. Lessons and assignments are self-paced and PSSA Standard based.
Mavis Teaches Typing: is a keyboarding program which focuses on techniques
with speed development. Your keyboarding score is calculated and computed
by the total daily class score (AWPM) adjusted words per minute. The
instructional techniques I encourage are to use the right fingers on the keys
and have the hands covered. This insures that the learner will have the
beginnings of solid functional skills.
