The library has a few general guidelines to help make running the library a smooth operation. By following these guidelines, you can make the library a great place to be.
- No gum, food or other chewables will be allowed in the library.
- No beverages will be permitted
- During homebase only two students from each homeroom will be permitted in the library at a time.
- Students must have signed agendas before coming to the library. Also, should paper passes be used, the teacher MUST write the student's name (both first and last) on the pass as well as sign it. Only one student name per pass.
- If students need to use the library for research, their agendas need to specify what assignment they are working on
These students may stay the entire period in the library only if they are seriously working on the assignment.
- Books may be checked out for a period of two weeks (14 days). Should there be
a vacation day within the fourteen day period, the books are still due fourteen days after check out.
- A fine of 5 cents per day will be charged for overdue books. If the student is sick on the day the book is due, a fine will still be charged.
- Magazines are available for students to read and to check out over night. A fine of 5 cents per day will be charged for overdue magazines.
- Book drops are available between the sixth and seventh grade wings and outside
the door to the library. Use these convenient spots to drop off your books/magazines on your way home or to class.
- Each day students with overdue books will receive a notice of these overdues in homeroom.
- At the end of each month, cumulative overdues will be sent to the students.
- Students with library obligations at the end of each six weeks will receive notices of their obligations and they WILL NOT be permitted to check out additional materials from the library.
- The library is a quiet place for students to work on projects requiring library resources or to browse for books or magazines.
- Students who just want to come to the library to work on homework assignments not requiring library resources, will be sent back to homebase if they are creating problems.
