How far in advance will my child know about a test or project?

As early as possible. I usually give them a week's notice and
reminders throughout the week. Dates are always on the board for
them to put in their agendas.

What is the easiest way to contact you?

You can call the school (362-3508) and leave a message for me and
I will return your call. Although, I would prefer you email me at
afesenmyer@bradfordareaschools.org. I am able to respond more
quickly when using this method.

How much homework should my child bring home?

Not much! I do not make it a practice to send work home unless
they did not finish it during class time. At that point you will
receive a permission slip and a phone call for your student to
stay after school with me to complete the work. If they do have
homework, it may be their choice to bring things home to work on.

What is your grading policy?

Most of the daily work is done during class. I will let them
know what I am grading. We will do a lot of writing. They will
have to meet deadlines. I do not give 0's. If work is not
handed in on time I will put a 50 % in the
gradebook. If you see this in the eschoolbook, you can assume that
the particular assignment was not completed. I will keep a
student after school for up to an hour to get his/her work
completed as often as needed. When it is turned in I will grade
it accordingly, however, each student is dealt with individually
and there are exceptions.

What is Study Island?

Study Island is an internet program that the students work on to
reinforce the content that is being taught in their classes.
They should spend a minimum of 15 minutes per subject each day.
Sometimes I require them to spend a certain amount of time and
answer a certain number of questions and then I will take a
grade. They can complete a section as often as they want
to receive their highest grade in one week. Grades are only
taken when the students are informed of it and at the end of a
week.
