English II

 
Hello and welcome to English II.  Be prepared to read at least four (4) 
novels this year.  We will be writing, completing vocabulary units, reading 
short stories, poetry, Julius Caesar and doing speeches.  It will be a great 
year. View required reading at bottom of page.

You were issued a textbook .  You must keep a cover on 
the literature textbook.  Points will be deducted if you fail to cover the 
text. You are required to maintain a notebook as well.
QUARTER 2
Assignments
11/03: Define PSSA Assessment Anchors #26-#50
11/04: Review the stories "The Piece of String", "Old Man of the Temple",
       and "The Black Cat".  Study for test on those stories.
11/05: Oral reading "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets
11/06: Test on PSSA Anchors 1-25
11/09: Test on "The Piece of String", "Old Man of the Temple", and
       "The Black Cat" 
11/10: Finish reading "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
       Complete questions at the end of the story
11/12: Discuss "Contents...", go over questions, discuss extra
       credit writing prompts, notebook checks for grammar and
       math problems, discuss speech(December)topics
11/13: Test on "Contents of the Dead Man's Pockets"
11/16: 4-Sight Testing
11/17: 4-Sight Testing
11/18: Parent-Teacher Conferences 1-6 p.m.
11/19: PSSA Assessment Anchors Test on terms #26-#50(narrative-voice)
11/20: Oral reading-- "The Monkey's Paw" pp.28-38
       Questions 1-7 p.39
11/23: "Shaving" p.113
11/24: Finish "Shaving" 
       Questions 1-10 p.119
11/25: Test on "The Monkey's Paw" and "Shaving" Extra Credit Esssay due
12/02: Speech Topics due (refer to rubric)
