Objectives
-to enable students to improve upon their grammar, spelling, writing, 
reading, and speaking skills, according to PA State Standards
-to introduce students to various tupes of literature and poetry
-to create an atmosphere of respect, politeness, and helpfulness
-to prepare students for college, the work place, and society

Expectations for Students
-to be mannerly and respectful at all times
-to complete all assignments and have them in on-time
-to do well on assessments
-to complete some studying at home
-to participate in class daily
-to arrive to class on-time
-to come to class prepared


Weekly Breakdown
This will be subject to change; the only exception being that we will ALWAYS 
have a vocabulary test/quiz on Fridays.

Monday: Weekly vocab given/grammar and spelling
Tuesday: Reading or Writing
Wednesday: Reading or Writing
Thursday: Vocab Review
Friday: Vocab Quiz/Test


Independent Reading Assignments
Students will be assigned FOUR OUT-OF-CLASS readings during the year.  They 
are responsible for obtaining the books, reading them alone, and completing 
accompanying assignments/tests.  (All books can be read for free online 
through Miss Hyder's Wiki site or by going to www.Scribd.com and searching 
for titles.  The Bell Jar is available, but not the complete text.)

Bell Binders
Bell binders will be completed every day at teh beginning of class.  Students 
are expected to take their assigned binders and begin the work that is 
assigned on the board. These must be completed in the alotted time.  All 
binder questiosn and answers must be written out completely.  There will be a 
binder test each month that will count as 70% of the students' participation 
grades.
