Many assignments will be checked by teh teacher such as homework and the
student will not be require to hand it in. Occasionally, homework may be
     collected at the teacher's discretion.
         * Essays/ Writing Assignments will be collected on the date they are
due. If the assignment is not handed in during the class period
the student has it will be considered late.

*Projects will be required to stay in the classroom on the date and
class period they are due unless other arrangements have been made
prior to the class period the project is due.

         * Vocabulary books will be collected upon completion for a final
grade. Each section will be checked along the road to
completion. Student that fail to complete a section will
lose 5 points on the vocabulary quiz for that unit.

2. What to do when tardy:
Students should follow the policy as in the handbook

If the student is on the attendance bulletin as being absent, the
student should make teachers aware of their presence and bring a tardy
      pass to class.

If the student is tardy on a project/ essay due date, the student is
required to bring the assignment to the teacher by the end of the
school day or the assignment will be considered late.

3.How to request permission to leave the room:
Respect and consideration is a must for an effective teaching environment.
Students are asked not to interrupt the teacher to leave the room unless
   it is urgent.

If a student needs to be elsewhere during class such as another
teachers room, the student must have a pass given to the teacher at
the beginning of class whether the student is leaving immediately or
        not.

If a student needs to use the bathroom facilities, the student is
given 5 minutes at the beginning of class and the last 10 minutes at
the end of class to go. The student must sign out on my form as well
as the schools required pass. If a student fails to follow these
rules, the privilege to leave the room may be suspended. Students are
not to leave class more than twice a week for any reason. There are
other classes to utilize as well.

If a student would like to go to the nurse, the student should go
during the first 5 minutes of class or wait until the last 10 minutes
of class to leave. If a student does not feel well, the student
should make the teacher aware of their symptoms at the beginning
        of class.

4.Policy for making up missed work:

Students should make every effort to hand in work on time. If work is handed
in late points will be deducted as stated in the classroom policies.

Make-up work is not to be done in class. If students were allowed to make-up
missed work during class time, they would continue missing work because they
can not focus on what is being taught during class, therefore, it is in the
students interest that work be done during 7th period, study halls, or
before the start of school.

5.Procedure for lack of materials:

Students should make every attempt to come to class prepared. If a student
needs to borrow a book or writing utensil, the student will be asked to sign
it out and return it before the end of class. At no time should students
take anything from the cabinets or my desk without my knowledge. Students
will lose 2 points each time they are unprepared.

6.Procedure for trash disposal, pencil sharpening and hole-punching:

Students are asked to do these tasks at the beginning or the end of class.

7.Procedure for finding homework assignments:

Students are given a calendar, usually monthly that lists their assignments.
The assignments are also listed on my web page or on the board in a
designated area. If there are papers that the student is required to
complete, they will be found in the designated bin for the class period the
student is in.

8.Daily procedure for the first 10 minutes of class:

Students will have an assignment daily as they enter the room. The assignment
earns them five points a day for a total of almost two test grades each
quarter. The assignment will be posted on the board, overhead or in handout
form. Students should complete the assignment in the ten minute frame given
as it will not be posted again. These will be checked and worth compilation
points as well. This is a quiet time in the room. These assignments are to be
kept in a separate notebook so that it may be collected periodically without
confusion of other class work.

Note: Students may use this time to quickly use the lavatory, sharpen
pencils, and discuss matters with me. However, they are required to complete
the daily language skill builder for each day of the week.

9.When it is not okay to talk:

Students should not be talking during the first 10 minutes of class as this
time is set aside for the daily language skill builders and other matters of
business.

Students are encouraged to practice respect, therefore, students should not
be talking when the teacher is giving instructions, a student/teacher is
reading a passage, during a film or presentation and when the teacher is on
the phone.

10.Testing procedure:

Students are asked to leave their personal belongings and textbooks in the
front of the room until everyone is finished with their test or quiz.

Students will be given further instruction when the last person hands in
their test/quiz. Students are usually allowed time to converse for the
remainder of class if they had just completed a test.

Students are to sit in their testing seats. The test will be passed out and
handed in upon completion.
