Discipline Plan

Rewards:

Marbles in a Jar:

In order for our classroom to run smoothly and safely it is very important for students to behave appropriately.  Using our Kerplunk marble game we will try to reach our goal of emptying out all of the marbles to win a treat for good behavior.

Caught Being Good:

This is designed for the individual student to be recognized for his/her behavior in school.  If I catch a student following rules and procedures exceptionally well I will reward them with a “Caught Being Good” slip.  The student will write their name on the slip and put in a box.  At the end of each week I'll draw a name.  The winner will be allowed to pick from my prize box.

Kindness Tree

In order to encourage positive behavior and social interaction I have placed a Kindness Tree in our classroom. Each time a student does something kind for someone else throughout the day (holds a door for someone, pick up books that someone dropped, give a compliment) he/she may fill out a slip of paper and pin their act of kindness on the Kindness Tree.  As our tree fills up, we will celebrate our acts of kindness by reading them off to the class.  Students will have chances to win Kindness Awards for outstanding acts of kindness.

Consequences:

Students who do not follow the class expectations will be given a verbal warning.  After ONE warning the student is expected to comply with rules. If the student does not correct his/her behavior he/she will lose a privilege.  If the student needs further guidance in correcting the behavior, I will communicate with the parent/guardian and work out an individual behavior plan for the student.  Severe behavioral instances will be dealt with according to the GNA Elementary Center discipline procedures.
