Tools for Success

~ Be prepared for class.  Bring your book and notebook, do your homework and make your best effort.  (Binders or folders as well as scientific calculators are recommended.  Pencils are required for assignment completion, tests, and quizzes.)

~ Assignments and test and quiz dates will be posted on my school web page under the Assignments link for each class.  Class notes and worksheets can be found under the Notes link for each class.

~ Don't be afraid to ask questions.  The only "stupid" questions are the ones that aren't asked.  Appropriate participation is always welcomed.  Inappropriate behavior, on the other hand, is not and will be dealt with accordingly.

~ When absent on a quiz/test day, the quiz/test will be administered upon returning to school.  Grace periods are based on the amount of days absent from class.  Failure to do so by the end of the grace period will result in a zero unless alternate arrangements have been made.

~ If you are caught copying classwork or homework or cheating on any quizzes or tests, a zero will automatically be awarded.

~ The only extra credit available falls under the homework category as described above or as extra credit problems at the end of a test.

~ All school rules as stipulated in the student handbook will be strictly followed.

~ If needed, additional help is available in the library during your study hall periods as well as in room 109 during 7th period.  Please alert me if you are planning on staying after school.

Your quarter grade will be calculated according to the following guidelines:

Tests (2-3 per marking period)                                               40%

Quizzes                                                                                 20%

PSSA Prep                                                                             20%

1.     Quiz every other Friday on daily sponge problems

2.    Open ended practice (4-5 submissions per quarter)

3.    4-Sight Test

Homework/Classwork                                                              20%

* In order to be successful in math class, one needs to practice and review concepts.  This is the purpose of homework/classwork assignments.  All assignments are expected to be completed for the following class.  Failure to complete an assignment in its entirety earns you a zero for that assignment.  No late work will be accepted.  You will be given one free pass per marking period for use on any assignment (unless otherwise specified).  If you do not use your free pass for a marking period and you complete all of the assignments, you will receive extra points on the homework/classwork grade.  (For instance, if 20 assignments are given during a marking period and you complete all of them, you will be given credit for 21 assignments.)  Free passes are only good for the quarter in which they are granted.
