Mr. Zubritski

American Cultures I covers the time period from the earliest inhabitants of 
North, Central, and South America to reconstruction after the American Civil 
War.

Some of the major topics we will cover are:  The major cultures of Central 
and South America (Maya, Aztec, Inca), early explorers of the new world 
(Columbus, Cortez, Pizarro), the first English settlements, formation of the 
original 13 colonies, the war for independence, the Constitution and the Bill 
of Rights, war of 1812, western expansion (gold rush, conflict with the 
Native Americans), slavery and the events leading to the Civil War, the Civil 
War and its aftermath.

Lessons will be taught by lecture, readings, worksheets, notes, videos, and 
computers.  
Students are required to bring their books to every class unless told 
otherwise by the teacher.
Grades are determined by test scores, homework assignments, classroom 
assignments, quizzes, classroom participation and overall behavior.

Do not be disruptive
You are responsible for your work and your actions!
