Computer/Internet
Acceptable Use Policy
Grey Nun Academy provides the use of computer facilities and Internet access
for educational use only. In order for the students to use the Internet,
parents must give their permission. Please review these guidelines with
your child and indicate your permission for your child to use the Internet
on the form provided. Please keep the top page for your records.
1. A student may use the computer and Internet only with his or her
teacher’s permission and for the purpose your teacher has requested.
Bringing in a laptop from home to use in class is not permitted, unless
permission is given by the principal due to extenuating circumstances.
2. Your School computer files are not private and the teacher and/or system
manager may see them at any time. Use of flash drives, CDs or Floppy Disks
to transfer files between school to home is permitted only in the library or
the computer lab and with permission from the librarian or computer
teacher. The librarian or the technology teacher must give permission
before classes begin in the morning concerning use of these devices.
3. Copyright laws must be respected: Do not copy materials without
permission. Be sure to tell where you found your information.

4. Do not give your password to anyone. Do not attempt to use anyone else’s
password.
5. Do not enter information about yourself, family members or friends on the
internet.
6. Tell your teacher about any messages that you receive that are not
appropriate and/or make you feel uncomfortable.
7. Do not attempt to access profane or obscene material. If you do so
accidentally, notify your teacher right away. Use links only from the
Library & Safe Search, POWER Library or your teacher’s web page to access
the internet.
8. Do not enter inappropriate or hurtful language into the computer.
9. Do not use email or instant messaging without teacher approval. Use will
be approved only for school-related work. No personal use is allowed.
10. Students will be disciplined according to the general disciplinary
practices if they do not follow these guidelines or if they utilize the
computers and Internet inappropriately.
