What is the Student Plan for Success?
In an effort to maximize learning and cultivate a respectful environment in
the classroom, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade will implement a discipline plan
called the Student Plan for Success (SPS). Each child will have a copy of
the plan in their Friday folder.
There are 6 basic rules listed on the SPS which each student is expected to
follow. As the week begins, if a student breaks a rule, the homeroom
teacher OR specials teacher will put a CHECK mark in the appropriate
column. Check marks for missed homework assignments will be given right
away; however, check marks for discipline-related issues will only be given
after the student has received several warnings.
3 checks in one week will result in the loss of recess. 4 checks will
result in a phone conference between parent and teacher. **Please keep in
mind that any missed homework assignment will be made up at recess
regardless. Once the assignment is completed, the student can join his/her
class outside.
Every good discipline plan has rewards which motivate the students to always
do their best. All of the students who make it through the whole week
without checks (a very attainable goal for these bright and motivated
children!) will receive a reward at the end of the week. Each teachers
rewards will vary, but could include fun prizes, candy, free time on
Fridays, homework passes, etc.
We ask that you check the SPS at the end of each week when Friday folders
come home, discuss any problems with your child, and return the sheet with
your signature. Please feel free to contact us about any problems or issues
that may arise during the students adjustment period to this discipline
plan.
Thank you for your help and support!
What is RESPECT?
Along with individual responsibilities, the class is expected to foster an
overall respectful attitude towards one another. This is monitored through
RESPECT. If the class maintains a respectful attitude towards themselves,
their peers, their elders, and the general school environment, they will
receive a letter of the word RESPECT. When the word is spelled out
completely, a special treat will be provided to the class.
