In September we worked on a still life painting of books and fruit and a
graphic cover for our sketchbooks.
In October, we practiced our drawing skills with a new still life of a jack-o-
lantern.
We also studied Egyptian Art and created a profile of a human head decorated
in the Egyptian style.
In November our still life drawing is of a cornucopia and a Native American
statue.
In November and December we studied Greek Art. we created a picture of a
greek vase in the geometric style. We also learned to differentiate among
the three style of greek style of columns, Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian.
January brings us to Ancient Rome. The students will create mosaics in the
style of those discovered in the lost city of Pmpeii.
We will also begin working on the Archdiocesan Art Contest. This year the
theme is "The Year of the Priest". Each grade will create a picture based on
various topics relating to the priesthood.
