Facts about Early Education

1. What are the requirements for Immaculate Conception's Early Childhood Program?
Children entering the Pre-Kindergarten Program must be 4 years of age by October 15th and fully potty trained.
Children entering the Preschool Program must be 3 years of age by October 15th and fully potty trained.

2. Who is the teacher?
Mrs. Rhonda Ouimet has over 20 years of experience in teaching young children. She is the founder of the Early Childhood Program at Immaculate Conception. She has a degree in Early Childhood Education.

3. Is there an aide?
Each program has a full-time aide.

4. What does the time frame for the Early Childhood Program entail?
Pre Kindergarten: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
AM Class - 8:45-11:15
PM Class - 12:00 - 2:30

Preschool: Tuesday, Thursday
AM Class - 8:45 - 11:15
PM Class - 12:00 - 2:30

5. Where is the classroom located?
The children meet in a designated room within the Academy. The Early Childhood Room is located right next to the Kindergarten classroom. The students have access to their own separate play area.

5. What does the curriculum entail?
Classes in the Early Childhood Program focus on educating the whole child and focuses on social, and emotional growth as well as academic growth to ensure a smooth transition into elementary school.
Curriculum includes reading readiness, pre-handwriting, math and language readiness as well as gross and fine motor activities.
Students will also have music, library, art, and physical education classes on a limited basis. PreKindergarten will visit the computer lab.

6. Do the students receive a report card?
There is open dialogue between teacher and the parents. Students receive a progress report as well as an individual Parent/Teacher conference in the Spring. Parents may also request a conference at any time throughout the year.

7. Do the students have a snack?
Snack time is a part of the daily routine. Parents are asked to help once a month.

8. What should the students wear?
Clothing for the children is up to parent's discretion; however, it is recommended that parents keep clothing simple for 'bathroom' time. Appropriate play shoes for safe outside play is also recommended to ensure the children's safety.

9. What opportunities are there for parent involvement?
As education is an extension of the process began at home, parent involvement is greatly welcomed and appreciated. For the safety of all the children, all participating parents must take a Protecting God's Children Class and have a Background Check.

10. Is there a Parent/Teacher Organization?
Immaculate Concpetion has a very strong Home School Organization that provides opportunities for community among families and financial support for the school.

11. What else can ICA offer my child?
In addition to preparing the students for elementary school, children experience a sense of community as well. Strong friendships and bonds are made at ICA, not only among the students but among their parents and families as well.

12. What is the cost of the Early Education Program?
The tuition for the program is paid on a monthly basis from September through May. Tuition prices are set each spring and are currently $90.00/month for Preschool and $130.00/month for pre-Kindergarten. There is also a non-refundable registration fee of $50.00 payable at the beginning of the year.

Our goal is to provide a quality program in which each child can grow emotionally, socially, and cognitively in a loving and caring Catholic environment. It is our goal to make children's first school experience a joyous one and develop in young children a love for God, themselves and others, and for learning.
