Week of 2/21/12
We've made it all the way to Unit 4 in our Readers! This week our story is called Mama's Birthday Present. It will help us to focus on possessives and we will become experts on when to place an apostrophe in our writing. Our spelling words focus on the long "a" sound made by "ay" and "ai". We will do a brief overview of syllables on Friday.

Our math chapter contains an overview of material. We will be placing numbers on a number line and determining whether or not that number is greater than, less than or equal to other numbers. We are working hard to master the concept of adding double digit numbers without borrowing. Most of us are able to do this in our heads! Wow!

This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, we will discuss the importance of this day and what it means to make good choices that help us to break bad habits. We will discuss and watch videos on self control and patience. 

Since February is Black History Month, each week this month we will study an important figure in our history and the impact that person has had on our lives today. Our person of the week this week is George Washington Carver.

I will be uploading new class photos on Tuesday night, please don't forget to take a look :)

Our school is collecting box tops for education. Please make sure you check all boxes and soup labels before you recycle them.
