This year I would like to start a “Student of the Week” bulletin board. Each student will have an opportunity to decorate “The Star Student” board with their poster, pictures, mementos and small special objects. Everything will be attached to the bulletin board.
I’m asking that each student complete and return the All About Me poster by October 3. I thought it would be easier to have the posters completed in advance, so students can focus on what they would like to put on their board.
I’ll do the bulletin board first, so students will know what to expect when it’s their turn. I will post it at the bottom of this page when it's completed. We will start the bulletin board on November 7th. The Star Student of the week will be notified the Friday before and I’ll send a reminder star home in their take-home folder. The Star Student will decorate the bulletin board the following Monday morning.
The Star Student will have an opportunity to discuss their board with the class. Also, they will bring our Flat Stanley Journal home for the week. The directions for the journal are on the inside cover of the journal book.
Students can invite a family member to come into the classroom one day that week to read a story or share a talent. (Day 1 from 2:05-2:30 and Days 2-6 from 1:30– 1:55) Please let me know if someone will be coming in Monday morning so I can adjust my lesson plans. :o) Feel free to write a special letter or poem for your child’s board or send in a healthy snack for the class.
