Welcome to my teacher web!
My first year at Shafer was a great one - I taught 4th grade and met so many
new and nice students, families, and staff. This year (2011-2012) will be my
third year teaching 3rd grade, and I truly love working with your children!
Prior to teaching at SES, I taught the Gifted Program and Extended Day
Kindergarten at LNES.
FYI: My educational background includes a bachelor degree in art and art
education and a master degree in elementary education. I have taken many
classes in reading & literacy. This past summer I spent 1 month (8:00-4:00)
at Penn State in the Summer Writing Institute (very intense!).
During the school year I spend lots of time reading, planning daily
lessons, and finding new and interesting ideas to share with students. I
like my classroom to be an upbeat, interactive, and exciting learning
environment.
I enjoy nature/animals, art, music & much more! I like walking my dog Bella
after school (she looks like the dog above), and I love to cook and bake. Art
was my first career - I taught private art lessons and owned a graphic design
business.
Naturally, I like to spend time with my family and friends. I live north of
Bath with my husband, son/Richard, 3 dogs and 2 cats. Yes, our house is like
a zoo with all of our animals! I also have a daughter who works out of state
and I miss her dearly! I look forward to visiting her during the summer and
holidays when we have time off from school.
What you should really remember about me is that I love teaching and sharing
my enthusiasm for learning with students. It is very important to me that
each of my students is successful in his/her own way. My classroom is a
positive learning environment in which I strive to inspire students and
instill a lifelong love for learning!
Smiles from-
Mrs. Appert :)
