ALL STORIES ARE REVIEWED ON SMARTBOARD WITH REVIEW QUESTIONS FROM TESTS



FIRST GRADE WILL BE USING IPADS IN SMALL GROUP INSTRUCTION. MS. JEANETTE WILL 
HAVE 5 STUDENTS AND REVIEWING PHONICS, MATH, SCIENCE, AND SIGHT WORD 
RECOGNITION.  MRS. ZIGGAS and MRS. KAMPIAN WILL BE WORKING ONE ON ONE WITH 
STUDENTS ON READING COMPREHENSION.

READING PLANS MAY BE SUBJECT TO CHANGE:

"Me on the Map" is a difficult story.  We may send home Reading book a couple 
times this week.

 MONDAY:  February 13, 2012
Read a big book "On a Hot, Hot Day". Do rhyming words and focus on skill 
long /a/.  Go over all sounds of the phonics opera. Work on slates. Introduce 
new key words: country, Earth, special review:over, town and world.  Read 
decodable book " Wake Up Blake". Do practice page 17 on long a. Do practice 
page 18 on I and me.


HOMEWORK: Do practice page 16 and read "Wake Up Blake".

TUESDAY: February 14, 2012
***Valentine's Day Celebration"***
Review new key words: country, Earth, special, over, town, and world.
Review "On a Hot, Hot Day". Review long a words.  Read poem "Legs" and do 
Phoneme isolation and medial phonemes. Read the story "Me on the Map" pages 
38-59 and ask questions. Review I and Me and complete Grammar page 86.

HOMEWORK: Write a sentence for each key word. 

WEDNESDAY: February 15, 2012
Review new key words.
Read the poem "Pat-a-Cake."
Do phonemic syllable with  words from the poem.
Phoneme substitution for long e and use slate boards.
Reread "A Bed Full of Cats" using comprehension questions. 
Give the vocabulary quiz.
Review I and Me and do language book page 87.

HOMEWORK:  Read the reading book story "Me on the Map".

THURSDAY: February 16, 2012
Give AR Test.
Read the poem "Tickets"
Use words from the poem to phoneme match.
Phoneme match long a words orally.
Read "Jane's Game" and highlight long a words.
Complete practice book pages 19-20.

HOMEWORK:  Read the take home book, "Janes Game."


FRIDAY: February 17, 2012
Give the End of Selection Quiz.
Cut out "Baseball".
Read the big book "On a Hot, Hot Day".
Phoneme substitution words and initial and final sounds from the big book. 
Focus on -ed and -ing. Do practice page 21 on long a 22 on classifying.
Do practice book page 23.
Review long a.
Do language book page 89.

HOMEWORK: Read "Baseball".

NO SCHOOL - PRESIDENT'S DAY


TUESDAY: February 21, 2012
Introduce the new key words:  different, water old, years,above, hold, warm 
and write them in our word journals. 
Read a big book "On a Hot, Hot Day". 
Phoneme Isolate words from the big book.
Go over all sounds of the phonics opera. 
Introduce long e spelled y words. Use slate boards to write long e spelled y 
words.
Read the decodable book :"Benny Bunny" and highlight all the long e spelled y 
words.
Do practice book page 25.   
Introduce he, she, it, they, and complete practice book page 24. 
Read the  poem "The House" and phoneme segment words from the poem.
Match ending sounds with long e spelled y.
Use word builder chart to practice long e.
Write long e spelled y words on slateboards.
Review new key words: different, water, old, years, above, hold, warm using 
the word power page.
Read the story "At Home Around the World" using guided comperhension.
Review he, she, it, they, and do language book page 90.

Read the poem "Mabel Murple.
Phoneme isolate words from the story.
Phoneme segment long e words spelled y.
Word build and use slate boards to write long e spelled y words.

Give quiz on practice book page 27 and 28.
Review the key words and read "At Home Around the World", using guided 
comprehension.
Review he, she, it,they, and complete language book pate 91.

HOMEWORK:  Read the reading book story "At Home Around the World".

THURSDAY: February 23, 2012
Give AR Test.
Read the poem "Bibblibonty."
Use words from the poem to phoneme isolate.
Phoneme distinguish ar and ur orally.
Word build words with as and ur ending in y.
Read "Ricky and Lucky" and highlight the long e spelled y words.
Do practice book page 29.
Review the key words and read "At Home Around the World".
Review classifying and do practice book page 30.
Review he, she, it, they and do language book page 92.

HOMEWORK: Math Sheet.  Read "Ricky and Lucky." 

FRIDAY: February 24, 2012

Cut out "Eating Yummy Cake" out of their Practice Books.
Read the big book "On a Hot, Hot Day".
Phoneme isolate ending sounds using from the big book. 
Focus on long e, /es/, ed, ing. Do practice page 31.
Review he, she, it, and they.
Do language book page 93.

HOMEWORK: Read "Eating Yummy Cakes" and review packet
