This is my 17th year at MDP. I teach Honors Math to the 7th and 8th
grades.
Honors Math students take part in Mathletes. We meet once a
week at lunchtime (usually on Thursday). We participate in the Kennedy-
Kenrick Mathletes competition in the Spring. In March, 2007, our A Team
took 1st place and received a trophy. In addition to the 1st place trophy,
we received a trophy (similar to the Stanley Cup) that we had engraved and
will keep on display in school for one year. In April, 2008, our A Team
again took 1st place and we get to keep the "Stanley Cup" for another year.
In April 2009, both of our teams were victorious. Team A took 1st place and
Team B took 2nd place. Once again, the "Stanley Cup" is ours to keep for
another year.
In February 2010, Team A took 3rd place. The children worked very hard and
are to be commended.
In April 2011, the competition was held for the 1st time at John Paul II High
School and Team A took 2nd place and two children received medals for
perfect scores. Once again, they did a great job.
"In life, you either lead, follow or get out of the way."
It is my hope that all of my students will use their God-given talents and
dare to be leaders.
