NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Back by popular demand is the 8th grade class trip to New York City. Believe
it or not, I have already secured the date and made inital arrangements.
Please look for a letter from me this week (Oct. 20 to 23) regarding the
trip. The date of the trip is May 12, 2010. This is the day before Ascension
Thursday. We are off on Friday of that week also. The cost of the trip for
both students and parents is $125 to be paid in two installments of $62.50
unless you would rather pay the whole thing at once. The first installemnt is
due on November 3 with the balance due on January 22, 2010.
My letter contains more detail as well as dates of importance to all 8th
grade students and parents.
Universal High School Visitation Day is scheduled for Novemeber 19. This is a
day when all 8th graders in the archdiocese are invited to visit the
archdiocesan high school of their choice. More details will follow.
High School Recommendations
Requests are beginning to come in for recommendations to high schools. I am
happy to complete them in a timely manner. Please be sure to include stamped
envelopes adressed to the schools of your choice.
Students wishing to visit/shadow in any of the high schools they are
interesetd in should check with those schools for information regarding
dates, etc. A note to me explaining abscence will suffice. As with any
absence, students are expected to make up any missed assignments.
Fund Raising
I am grateful to those homeroom parents who have volunteered to take the lead
in fund raising for 8th grade activities. I hear that the pretzel sales are
a huge hit. Box tops are also pouring in. Thank you. Mr. Steve Wildemann
informed me the other day that the Athletic Association has agreed to give
the proceeds of one dance to the 8th grade. How very generous! I believe
something will be expected from the 8th grade students in the way of
assisting at the dance. I'm sure you will be notified well in advance.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Once again the 8th grade will be the featured players for the annual
Christmas Concert to be held on Dec. 17. I have supplied most students with
costumes. All thirty of them! The sheep and angels are still without
costumes. Mr. Hosking has given the sheep simple suggestions for their
costumes and the angels usually borrow altar server albs.
I ask your help in assisting the students with their costumes even if it only
means ironing or freshening up a bit. Thank you in advance for your continual
support.
