Dear Parent Chaperones, Girls, and Boys,
Our day at Riverbend Environmental Education Center will be spent outdoors as
we learn about the Life of the Lenape Indians. Riverbend offers a unique
chance to visit a demonstration Lenape Village and gain an understanding of
Lenape life before European contact, through hands-on activities. Whether
they were hunting, fishing or foraging, Lenapes’ lives were closely tied to
the natural world. We will get to experience their culture.
Important Info for the Day:
We will leave at 9:00, after Morning Prayer
Wear Gym Uniforms and Sneakers
Nametags will be worn by students, chaperones and teachers, so the
staff can address everyone by name to create a more personal
atmosphere during the program.
Every student must be with an adult at all times. Please stay in your
group.
Chaperones and teachers are expected to assist with group management
during the program, distribute materials, assist students who need
extra help, etc.
Bring a bagged lunch with your name clearly marked on it. They will
be taken to the barn when we arrive. If the weather is nice we can
eat outside, otherwise we’ll eat in the barn.
WE MUST TAKE ALL TRASH BACK WITH US. There are recycling bins in the
barn for aluminum, glass and plastic. Each teacher will have trash
bags for their students.
TICKS? The Riverbend staff facilitates a “tick check” at the end of
each outdoor program. Students should have their parents do a
more thorough check that evening.
EMERGENCIES In case of a medical emergency, go to the office
(basement of the barn) immediately and 9-1-1 will be called. In case
of fire, all groups will gather at the outdoor classroom to take
attendance.
Working together, we will make the class trip to Riverbend a memorable one
for everyone.
Looking forward to next week,
Mrs. Volpe
