HELLO!
My name is Anita Davidson and I LOVE to teach! I have had the pleasure of
being at MDP school for 7 years, working with the Pre-Kindergarten 3 year
olds. It has been a joy for me as an early childhood teacher to work among
the children in my charge and with their caring families. We are going to
have a WONDERFUL year together!
In my own family I am blessed with two lovely, and remarkable daughters,
fine, caring son-in-laws and 3 very happy, busy and fun- to- be- with
grandsons and 1 beautiul, curious toddler granddaughter and yes, Mr.Ed
Davidson, the MDP Technology teacher, my caring and supportative husband!
There are also 3 dogs in the family Max, Duke and Daisy and one beta fish
named Sherlock Holmes!
Besides a happy, busy family I enjoy painting with watercolors and
sketching, live theatre, gardening, fishing, writing and reading recent best
sellers, traveling, playing board games with my grandsons and of course
photgraphing my beautiful, little granddaughter.
These last 7 years at MDP have reaffirmed my belief that the differences
among two-, three- and four -year olds are very impressive. Each day holds
new developmental milestones in their young lives. I feel fortunate to have
the opportunity to consciously reinforce in class the many needed concepts
and skills they will use throughout their learning experience in school and
in life. Children are our greatest blessings.
My goals are to offer the children opportunities to explore, create, learn
and grow as individuals with strong self-esteem and values, to also support
the School Administration, and Parish and the MDP Parents and families so
that together, with God's love and guidance we can all help these wonderful
children to grow and develop to their fullest potential. Together we can
offer the children the tools they need to become lifelong learners and
productive citizens.

ART:
I have been teaching the Art program at Mother of Divine Providence School
for 4 years. During this time I have worked with students from Kindergarten
through 8th Grades.
I have been involved with the National Art Education Association
and the Brandywine River Museum promoting professional training for teachers
in the Arts. I have also been active in the US Society for Education
through the Arts and the non profit organization Keep Arts in School. My
experience includes being the Founder of a Women's Art Guild for over 100
active artisan members. My art interests include watercolor painting,
needlework and American folk arts, antique restoration, and weaving and
stenciling, acrylic painting.
Each year I look forward to a fantastic time with your child teaching them
to enjoy, appreciate, and create art. I look for opportunities to
correlate art with the academic core cirriculum. The children will look at
and talk about major works/styles of art, as well as create their own
masterpieces using the principles of design. We will study various artists,
art styles and cultures around the world in Kindergarten through 8th grades.
Student art for all the grades will be displayed in the school and the
surrounding communities. We will offer students the opportunity to compete in
various art contest and events to share and show their talents.
In order to provide the best possible learning environment for your budding
artist, we will be developing our guidelines for behaviour the first day of
class. This plan will give every student the opportunity to manage his or
her own behavior and will be in effect at all times (in our Art Studio Room).
Classroom Guidelines:
1. Follow directions the first time they are given.
2. Take care of All art materials (and school facility). Use tools as
demonstrated. Respect all property.
3. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.
4. Be to class on time---And prepared with a sharpened pencil and copy book
(needed for the 4th through 8th graders only). Stay in assigned seat or area
unless given permission to do otherwise.
5. Work QUIETLY on projects---use time wisely. Respect others and their work
at all times.
6. ALWAYS clean up after yourself and push chairs under the table when
leaving the Art Center.
I will be reinforcing appropriate behavior with positive notes, bonus
points, special activities and art projects. Students who follow the rules
produce quality work. Every student has a right to work in a positive
learning enviroment.
The only supplies your child will need should be in their class art boxes.
The fourth through 8th graders should bring a sharpened pencil and a copy
book to each Art class session. Students in all grades need a smock or a
paint shirt to be worn when art materials are being used.
As a teacher I believe that children's passion for learning is deepended
when...
- Their classroom celebrates play and imagination.
- Their art is displayed at school,in the community and at home.
- They are invited to ask questions and invent solutions.
- They make art with friends and make friends through art.
- They take classes in music, dance, art and theatre.
- They celebrate the arts with the whole school community.
- They learn with their whole self - mind, body, spirit, heart, and imagination.
- They receive encouragement and support for their efforts and talents.
I strive in each Art class session to strengthen their self-esteem
by treating them respectfully, taking their views and opinions and ideas
seriously, and expressing appreciation to them when they create their
artwork and complete the assigned tasks. The children are a joy to teach and
I thank you all for your support of Art in this upcoming school year.
Please stop by and visit the Art room and see the magnificent work the
children will be working on in our school studio.
