HOME READING: 15 minutes each evening.
To become a reader you must READ!
Students will be assessed at the beginning of the year to find their
independent reading level. They will choose books at their level from our
First Grade Take Home Library to read for their reading homework. Your child
may have done this in kindergarten last year. They may also bring home a book
from one of our old reading series that contains many stories. The key is to
read and reread!
WORD WALL WORDS: These words will be located in your
child's agenda. These basic sight words are important for your child
to be able to read fluently. Please take the time to practice them at home
each evening. We will begin with a quick review of the kindergarten list.
OTHER HOMEWORK ITEMS: On occasion other homework papers will be sent
home. These papers will be stamped as homework and will also show what date
they are due.
MATH HOMEWORK: Sorting and Classifying bags are due on 9/28/09
