Class Goals
To master the Archdiocesan Mathematics (New Common Core Standards for
2011/12) guidelines for your grade level
To think “outside the box” when problem solving

Grading Policy - Your grade will be a weighted average as follows:

**To continue in challenge math, you must have an 85% average. Extra
credit/bonus
points will be made available occasionally.
Absence Policy - Upon returning to school, ask for the prepared sheet
explaining what work and notes you missed. It is your responsibility to
makeup and hand in all missed work! You will be given the same amount of
time that you were absent to makeup work.
Homework Policy - Homework will be given and checked daily. It will be
written on the board and on my webpage. You must show all work and a strong
effort to receive full credit (100%). “I forgot” or “I was busy” or “I didn’t
take home the right book” are not valid excuses. If you don’t understand
something, don’t give up. Some strategies you can use are to: 1) read the
section and examples in the book or your notes, 2) call a friend from class
to help you, 3) ask someone at home for help, 4) use the internet for help.
If homework is 1 day late or poorly done, you will receive ½ credit (50%). No
credit is given for later or missed homework. One rain check per student
will be given each marking period so that you can turn in an assignment one
day late for full credit.
Door of Fame – Extremely creative/unique/superb work will be permanently
displayed on our classroom door.
Contact Info – My daily hours are 8:30am – 12:30pm. Your parents can call
OLHC during those times. Other ways to communicate with me are through
handwritten notes or email on teacher web at mhowe@olhc-parish.org.

homework, announcements, pictures, and helpful websites. Please check it as
needed.
Classroom Rules – 1) Follow all school rules. 2) Respect Mrs. Howe, each
other, visitors and school property. 3) Come to class prepared with all
supplies, books and assignments 4) Give your best effort!
