April and May = We will be working on our Research Project in school.
The research reports will be based on nonfiction books the
children find in the library or in our classroom.
The children will pick a book about an animal they are
interested in and write about its habitat, what it eats,
and describe its features. Creative drawing is part of
the project.
Lent Project = Due March 26, 2012
Assignment: Each child will use a poster board and create a Lent Poster.
(This can be found at the Dollar Store and Walmart)
The project should show the child’s understanding of Lent and things we
should be doing during Lent. Each child should find pictures, words and
pictures of people doing things like: praying, obeying, doing for others
(helping others), and sacrificing. Children can also make/draw symbols that
represent the Lenten Season (cross, palms, food we sacrifice during the
season, just to name a few ideas).
Magazines, our Religion book (from chapters already covered and read
only!!!!!!) and the internet are good resources to find pictures.
You may draw pictures also. Paste your pictures of objects to poster board
and bring the poster to school on Monday, March 29th. Each child should be
able to show their basic understanding of the Lenten Season through this
project.
****I put the rubric for the project on the back of the directions.
********Please attach this rubric to the back of your project!!!! Please be
sure your childs name is on the rubric.
This will count as a Religion grade. Have fun and be creative. I can’t wait
to see what you create!!!
Book report – March and April
Your child picked out a book from our library with the help of Mrs. Powell.
Mrs. Powell and I discussed the type of books best suited for the book
reports. Each student should read the book independently and then write
about the story they have read. We are working on this project at school.
Family Shield Project
We stated a new unit the week of October 24th. The unit is about communities.
I have assigned a fun project for the class. I have attached directions, a
rubric, and a template. I also sent home with each child the poster board
needed to complete the project. I am giving the class two weeks to complete
the project. Each child will present their Family Shield to the class.
Due Date = November 11, 2011
