FALL BOOKFAIR AT BARNES & NOBLE
Welcome back to school everyone! I hope you all have a fun, book-
filled summer vacation. We have a lot of fun planned for the Library this
coming 2009-2010 school year. The Bookfair at Barnes & Noble is November
13th-15th. I hope you can make it. The Bookfair is an important fund-raiser
for the Library with 15% of the sales all weekend given to the Library. This
year we plan to expand our new periodical section and to purchase much needed
nonfiction books. Don't forget your vouchers when you come, they'll be
coming home in October with a flyer. They'll also be available on our
website.
READING OLYMPICS COMPETITION
The Elementary (grades 4 and 5) Reading Olympics Competition is
scheduled for April 15, 20 OR 22 (CCIU will assign us one of those dates
later this year). The Middle School (grades 6-7-8)Competition is April 13th.
We will assemble 1 team of 12 students for each of the levels. To start, all
students may read from the list of 40 books. In mid December we will select
students for the teams based on the number of books read and after
discussions with the teachers regarding grades and conduct. We do not want
the competition to be a burden for the child or a distraction from his/her
regular school work. However, the students on the team must commit to reading
and meeting with the team for practices/meetings. More information will be
available to the students.
