Computer Lab has been upgraded to Windows 7 and students are using
Microsoft Office 2007
Please remember to use correct finger placement when keyboarding and
practice to improve keyboarding skills.
Grade 4: Students will continue improving keyboarding skills using Ultra
Key. Students have completed an internet project and will work on a Word
project keying the Beatitudes. Students will be introduced to the history of
the computer and the internet. The acceptable use policy will be reviewed.
Students will be shown and use a typewriter and view the inside of an old pc.
Students will work on a second internet project in Excel learning about the
moon. Students are preparing for a keyboard test in March, where students
will be required to know the location of the keys q through the period.
Grade 3: students will continue improving keyboarding skills with the Ultra
Key program. Students have reviewed movement of an object from Paint to Word.
They will be introduced to Power Point and make a 3 slide project. They are
preparing for a keyboard test in March where they will be required to know
the location of the keys from q through the semi colon.
Grade 2: Students are improving their keyboarding skill in Word to prepare
for Ultra Key in third grade. Students will highlight words, move them,
change color, and key punctuation marks. Students will continue to review and
explore Paint.
Grade 1: students have learned the home row and will continue to review it.
Students are working in Paint drawing pictures to learn the various tool of
the program.
Kindergarten: Students are learning about the keyboard using the Tux Paint
program. Students are improving their use of the mouse with drag and drop.
Students have keyed color words their name and will learn numbers. Students
use only the right hand on the keyboard in Kindergarten because the pinky
finger on the right hand is the only finger that presses the enter key and
students have learned that the thumbs are the only fingers that tap the space
bar.
Pre K: Students are learning how to follow directions, and how to hold and
click the mouse using games from the primary learning web site. These games
are listed under the links section.
