Hello, I am Mary Kay Hennessy and I'm so glad to be teaching your child
this year. I received my Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education/Early
Childhood from Millersville State College (now a university)and my Masters of
Education with a principal certificate from Cabrini College. This year I will
be participating in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia's Principal Induction
Program on Monday nights in Philly.
I have been teaching at Coatesville Area Catholic Elementary School/Pope
John Paul II for 30 years. This year begins my 24th year in 6th Grade. I
believe PJPII has the best students and parents in the diocese!
I live in East Fallowfield with my two sons, Kevin and Robert. Both boys
graduated from Coatesville Catholic and Bishop Shanahan High School. Kevin
graduated from the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia with a Doctor of
Pharmacy degree. He is a pharmacist at the Coatesville VA Hospital. Robert
graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Arts in History
and Political Science. He works for a defense contracting company, Facina
Global, in LaPlata, Maryland. Both boys had me as a teacher and survived 6th
Grade!!
In the fall you will find us rooting for our favorite college football
teams, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame, as well as the Pitt Panthers. We are
members of St. Cecilia Parish where I am a lector.
I enjoy playing and watching sports, cooking, baking, reading and eating
chocolate, especially Hershey Kisses. I look forward to a wonderful year with
my students.
I will teach all 6th Grade students Social Studies and my homeroom,
Religion, ILA(Reading, English/Writing, Spelling) and Art.
I will foster a Christian spirit within the children in their
academic and social life. This year we will work on reverence during prayer
time, respect for all people and reinforcing good manners. I will prepare my
students for the next level of education by having them change classes, be
more independent and responsible for their work and actions.
