IWelcome to November! Thanksgiving is right around the corner and we have many exciting things
happening in second grade.
Last month we continued to work on our reading skills in both large and small groups and we have
been working very hard on our first small moment story. We have progressed with our review of
priniting letters and look forward to starting on cursive in January. In math class we have practiced
skills such as counting money, telling time, addiing and subtracting numbers, and recognizing place
value. We have also been working hard in social studies to learn about families in preparation for our
upcoming Grandparents' Day program on December 4th.
Thank you so much for helping our classes prepare for and enjoy such special events as Halloween. In
November we will be utilizing parent volunteers to plant tulips in the front of the school as part of our
science learning and we will be working very hard to ready for Grandparents' Day. We could not
participate in these unique events if it wasn't for your help as volunteers, your cooperation in returning
forms and homework, and your support in supplying items for the children to use and enjoy. We
couldn't do it without you!
Thank you so much,
The Second Grade Teachers
