November 23, 2009 and December 1, 2009

Reading – Students will be making inferences as they read.   Students will continue to participate in reader’s workshop and reading from the anthology.   The reading log is due 12/01.  There is no response this week. 

Language Arts –Writing a persuasive paragraph will be our concentration this week.  Editing skills will be practiced.

Spelling – A list will go home 12/1 and the assessment will be given on 12/7.

Math – We will begin Unit 4 after the holiday.  Please read and initial the Family pages in the Study Links.  Have your child study multiplication and division facts over the holiday.  That is the only assignment this week.  Next week, return to checking the homework agenda each night for the assignment..

Social Studies – The assessment on the Northeast will be given tomorrow.  Students will use the text to locate the information needed to answer the questions on the assessment.  They should read the chapter over tonight.  This can be counted as reading time.  The study of the Southeast region will be our focus next week.  Please send in a stamped envelope so we can send our letters to the states’ department of tourism.

The Sign and Return Packet is due on Tuesday, December 1.  This the first  set of papers for the second marking period.
