* Closing Message:
If you have seen your child’s new spelling list already, then I’m sure you’ve noticed a different “look” to it. We are using a new program that focuses more on phonics, concentrating on the sounds that letters make and the different ways they can be rearranged and used. The kids really seemed to enjoy the hands-on lesson when we took our pretest on Friday and “played” with the letters to build words. In addition to improving their spelling, my hope is for them to transfer what they learn to their reading and apply it to sounding out difficult words. As an added bonus, the lists introduce the students to new vocabulary as well!
