Mr. Arnold's Homework Page:
11/23/09 - All periods, read 20 minutes of their AR book.
All classes: The students have set their Accelerated Reader (AR) goal. Ask
what their goal is and encourage them to read. They all have AR books! Also,
the AR list can now be located on the South Webpage via the district homepage.
Also remember that your child does not have to stick with the AR list. They
may read what they want and then create their own quizzes.
All year:
Every night your child should be reading his/her Accelerated Reading book. I
would suggest at least 30 minutes a night. Your child has agreed to reach a
certain goal by the end of the marking period. If your child does not reach
that goal, it will impact his/her grade.
Accelerated Reader (AR) is a chance for your child to read a book of his/her
choice from an extensive list. I like AR because of this reason. After they
are done reading, they are to take a computer generated quiz at school to
check his/her comprehension. If they are successful, so will their grade be in
English. It will hurt their grade if they choose not to read or do poorly on
the quizzes. But, my class has diverse grades so it will not crush your
child's grade should that be the case.
I want all my students to be successful in this program so therefore have
limited my homework in my class because of this.
