This week we will be beginning our Holey Card test of 46 subtraction problems in 5 minutes. The tests will be on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We will no longer do daily practice in school so you might want to keep practicing at home.
"FEED ME, FOR THE POOR," says our purple pig in 1A.
From now until Easter we will be collecting loose change to feed our pig for the poor. This works great with the money chapters we are and will be doing in Math class. The children will count the change they want to bring in and then feed the pig.
THIS IS OPTIONAL, OF COURSE!!
We are have been working with money. The children seem to be doing very well. A good practice is to have your child count some of your change. We count from the coin with the most value to the least value. We are working with pennies, nickels and dimes. We have not started quarters but if you want to add it and your child seems to have no problem with pennies, nickels and dimes then give it a try.

We are into month 4 of the Pizza Hut Book-It Program. Please encourage the goal of First Grade of 10 books per month. This activity really improves a child's reading ability and their love and habit of reading. You might want to check out the following web site:
