What happens when a student is having trouble with homework?
I always tell the students to attempt to do their best. If there is some
evidence of work, I can usually give some credit. Start by writing down the
questions, see if you can include some information related to the topic, and
any steps that we might have covered in class.
What happens when a book need for homework is left at school?
Students have points deducted for lateness and should complete
the assignment the next night. Also, most assignments are due in 2 days, it is best to try to complete work on the first day that the assignment is given.
Then, if problems arise, a student can ask questions in class on the next day!!!Also, some of the text books are available on line.
What happens when homework turns to tears and frustration?
It's time to stay after school for extra help, homework should
review and reinforce topics already covered in class. Be sure to check the
daily notes for help with samples to be used as guidelines.
How can I arrange for my child to get extra help?
Have the student talk to the teacher about a convenient time,
usually I can find a time(s) that will work into the student
schedule for before/after school. I am available on M/W/F from 7 -
7:30 AM or on T/Th from 2:30 - 3:30 PM.
My child says that there is no homework, can this be true?
It may be true that there is no written homework, there is ALWAYS homework:
they need to review notes, reread pages learned in class, try sample problems
and check with the answers from class, create review cards with rules (can be
copied from notebooks), try odd numbered problems and check answers in the
back of the book - as you can see there is ALWAYS some homework!!
