What can I do to help my child improve his grade and understanding in Spanish?

Usually low grades indicate low test scores in spelling and vocabulary in
Spanish. Students have a daily 15-minute homework assignment in Spanish to
review their vocabulary words and notes from class. The best way to tackle
the Spanish vocabulary (or English vocabulary) is to put the word on an
index card with the definition on the back. Each day for 15 minutes, the
student should study the words and definitions for as many words as possible
during that time, then put those words in the back of the card group.
Following this method, the student will rotate through the words each week,
enabling him to remember the spellings and defintions, which will continue
to be used throughout the school year and, hopefully, throughout life!

Why is my child required to maintain a study calendar for Spanish?

Students need to frequently review and study vocabulary to maintain progress
in a foreign language. I ask students to study 15 minutes every weekday to
achieve this progress. If parents will monitor their study times, students are
more likely to do the daily review and study. This year, only students with
low scores/grades will be asked to use the calendar. However, ALL students
should continue to study their Spanish notes for 15 minutes nightly.
