About The Teacher

My name is Miss Marshall, and I am the homeroom teacher for 6A. This is my
fourth year with St. Philip School, and I am looking forward to a wonderful
year! I will be teaching Spanish to students in grades 6 through 8, along with
a rotating schedule of Spanish with the 1st through the 5th grades, one period
of Library and math skills with the 1st grade, and reading enrichment with the
Kindergartners. I hope to share my love of the Spanish language and culture
with the SPS students, and I also hope to help them learn the English spelling
necessary to excel in writing.

For ten years, I taught English to Spanish speaking students in a
bilingual/ESL program in Perris, California. I also lived and taught in
Torremolinos, Spain for two years. For many years, I taught classes for the
Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC)and private lessons to graduate
students at Pitt and CMU. As I like to tell my students, Spanish has taken me
many places and has provided some wonderful work experiences for me.

Mission For The Class

My mission for the Spanish classes is to excite the students about learning
and motivate them to do their best to master the language. Spanish can open
a whole new world to them - a world of travel, job opportunities, cultural
awareness, and communication with new friends. Throughout the year, I expect
to see the students mature academically, spiritually, and socially.
