Information is up to date and on-line. Just over
$6,000 in budget. $2900 in expenses still to be paid out.
If we invested in Rachel’s Challenge we would not have had much to
support next year’s HASA budget at all. We generally
have left-over funds that are used to cover the next year’s assemblies.
Corbi’s is the only specific fundraiser on the schedule that is coming
up.
ii.
Lost package of box tops damaged at Post Office – we lost the income

active role and adding events.

and 16th. Volunteers needed on those specific
dates to help with managing the children, their lists and their money. 9-11

·
Rachel’s Challenge
o
June rolled out a potential assembly that HASA is proposing. It
is called Rachel’s Challenge. We wanted to address
bullying as mentioned in our last HASA meeting. During our
research, this program came to our attention. While it does
not directly address bullying, it is a positive message for the students
designed to “start a chain reaction of kindness and compassion”.
“Rachel’s Story is a powerful and impactful assembly and training
program for middle school grades 6 – 8. Students will
hear true and impactful stories from the life of Rachel Scott, the first
victim of the Columbine shootings in 1999. Students will
experience her influential life through the eyes of her youngest brother, Mike
and her oldest sister, Bethanee. This collection of
emotional yet age-appropriate stories will introduce your students to a girl
that knew her actions could change the world….” A flyer was distributed at the
meeting. The program is expensive. There
are 4 different program options. We are suggesting a
school-wide assembly (grades 6-8), and a community event that could possibly
take the place of the next HASA meeting depending on schedules. The
cost would be $3,300. We have collected $2,000 from the
recent Yankee Candle fundraiser. We have enough funds;
however we might have to sacrifice other budgeted items like the prize
selections for the Family Fun Night. An evite will be sent
out, soliciting your approval to spend $3,300.
·
Budget
o
Lisa discussed budget items. Current balance is
$7,400.
o
Other expenses are earmarked for Catholic Schools
week, and scholarships, etc...
o
Yankee made $2,000.
o
Joe Corbi’s scheduled for the spring.
o
Market day made $400.00.
o
Our biggest fundraisers for the year are completed.
o
There are still 18 families that have not paid dues this year. This
is $180.00 that could be used for your children. Please do
your part and pay if you haven’t.
o
The budget itself will be available on the web site.
·
Survey results
o
A link to the full survey is below:

o
In summary:
§
53 families took the survey
§
Overall positive comments and constructive criticism
§
Meeting content and frequency – OK with 4 meetings per year.
§
Babysitting biggest item; however causes concern for us. Things
we need to consider:
·
Child to sitter ratio
·
security clearances are necessary
·
Ideal for teenager >= 16 years of age
·
Cannot guarantee we can have someone at each meeting.
·
We are asking if there are any solutions/ideas.
§
Actions taken already from survey suggestions
·
Advertise the dates ahead of time
·
Post agenda ahead of time
·
Offer pizza/snacks
§
Regular updates on the Wal-Mart construction – to be given by Mr.
Brunner when information is available.
§
New fundraisers – no suggestions?
§
We need a new lunch duty process for more volunteers – need ideas.
§
More social activities: Dances, Movie night, Family night, Pizza nights
§
NUT passes – No uniform today
·
Survey results showed positive response, however half the people
answered the question. Negative comments came directly to
us. We pulled it. It was meant to
enhance attendance. Some viewed it differently. There
was no malicious intent.
·
Mr. Brunner updates:
o
Wal-Mart to open in August. Small stores one at a
time.

children baptized at the church. These 3-4-5 year
olds today were invited to consider Sacred Heart School. 13
families were interested in more information. If you know
of new families, please spread the word.
§
Monies from Oktoberfest and the Golf outing will be used to fund 4
scholarships at $500.00 each. These will be for a range of
grades, with a written essay required. Roll-out will be
during Catholic Schools week. The scholarship money will be
for Sacred Heart tuition.
§
Budgeting process is still underway for next year. Tuition
is dependent on enrollment projections for the coming year.
§
Registration for coming year will start 3rd week of January
for new families, and February for existing families.
§
The on-line technology addendum for clearance was available after the
meeting.
§
Mr. Brunner asked for help with a Santa Claus for the Pre-k classes.

·
A parent voiced concerns about lunch duty. It
was suggested that the discussion be continued after the meeting.

HASA Agenda – Paul
i.
Bully Free year.
1.
We had one family leave Sacred Heart because of bullying. It
was addressed by the school, but that is something that we, as parents, need
to take responsibility. It is unacceptable to have
anyone in Sacred Heart feel bullied. We are
considering making the December 5th general
meeting include a guest speaker with a focus on an anti-bullying message…and
possibly making it mandatory. More to follow.
ii.
Retain current families. We lost 16 people
for a variety of reasons. Was there anything we could
control to keep families and kids at Sacred Heart? Ultimate
goal is enrollment increase into 2012 – 2013 school year.
iii.
Everyone heard and everyone welcomed.
1.
It is difficult to be the new kid/new parent within an established
school. Please recognize this, and help, by introducing
yourself to new parents and asking your children to welcome new kids as well.
The new Welcoming committee is timely and necessary.
5)

Was there any update on having a school zone in front of the school? It
was looked into last year; however the cost (signage, etc…) is at the school’s
expense. No further action has been taken.
