So how many years have the Unit D teachers really been around?
The spirit unique to St. Aloysius has played a role in our bond
as teachers and friends. I guess we love what we do. I arrived in Unit D in 1972, and Mrs. Lavelle joined me in
1977. By 1980 Mrs. Marley came on board. Each of us brings a
different element to our unit, yet we all share a love of our students, a respect for one another, and
an appreciation for many years of friendships.
Are the Unit D students really the BEST?
Absolutely! They make the school the great and welcoming place it
is. Through their example, they set the tone for the new year.
Does homework count?
Is this really a question?
Is studying a part of homework?
Because of the amount of material covered on the junior high
level, you'll sink quickly without NIGHTLY study.
Will I ever use all this information I have to learn?
Although some of the information that you've learned may not
come up directly, "learning to learn" is a skill for life. Most
important, we establish a way of processing concepts, using
logic to figure out problems, making educated contributions to
society, and learning the rewards of doing something well. Your
education is the foundation of your furture.
In addition to studying, what else can I do to be a successful student?
Class participation is very important for a number of reasons.
First, it gives the teacher an idea of your understanding of a
concept. Secondly, it sets the atmosphere in the class.
Students who participate and question ideas become "active"
learners. Thirdly, students who participate, retain info from class,
making home study easier.
