The 8th grade has embarked on "The You've Made a Difference" Award. It is our
effort to make sure on one is ever taken for granted. Recipients whom the
students have personally selected are asked to forward the award to someone
who has made a difference in their own life. We keep record of individuals we
have heard from. To date 21 responses have been received.
Both 7th and 8th grades are continuing the study of poetry. We've covered
such writers as e e cumming. The students love his style of no caps and no
punctuation. We've also met Ogden Nash, Alfred, Lord Tennyson, Robert Frost,
and Walt Whitman.
In grammar the 8th grade is reviewing pronouns, and the 7th grade is studying
the objective case of nouns.
Mrs. H's Reading class (8-1) will be completing responses to the
movie "Freedom Writers". We're working on the format of our essays with
special emphasis on the thesis statement.
CONGRATULATIONS JAMES McKEON!
James's entry "Fancy Friends" was voted #1 by the Unit D students to rename
our Advent Angels since the seventh and eighth graders will be visiting their
first and second grade friends on a regular basis. We're all looking forward
to our first visit on Thursday, October 15th when we'll be doing a pumpkin
project with our "Fancy Friends". It should be a great afternoon!
