I earned my bachelor degree in Elementary Education from Neumann College and
my masters degree from Cabrini College. I taught 4th grade at Our Lady of
Perpetual Help School in Morton, PA for 5 years. After the birth of my
first daughter, I decided to stay home for a while to enjoy her (and later
her sister's) baby years. When my family moved into the Pottstown area in
2000, I began substituting at St. Al's while also teaching preschool 2 days
a week at Falkner Swamp Nursery School. In 2004, I became a full time 3rd
grade teacher here at St. Al's. I love this age group because they are old
enough to read funny chapter books to and do Science experiments with, but
they are also still young enough to get excited over a neat sticker. I also
enjoy getting them ready for Reconciliation and First Communion.
I have attended Catholic schools at all levels and that has made me a strong
believer and supporter of the Catholic school system. My daughter Deanna is
a freshman at St. Pius and her sister, Rebecca, is in 6th grade at St. Al's.
I think being a parent has made me a better teacher this time around, because
I now understand the pressures that young families face today.
Third grade is a year of tremendous growth. I want to provide a caring and
comfortable atmosphere for my students as they learn and grow this year. I
will be expecting them to become more responsible and self-sufficient as the
year goes on.
