6th Grade Project

6th Grade Project:

 

You are going to research a country in Europe.  You will write up a page on your country including geographical facts, government, population, important historical events, language, religions, violence, economy, etc.  You will turn in a poster or power Point presentation and give a 3 minute presentation to the class.

 

Due: On Tuesday, October 13th, after Columbus Day Weekend.  You must bring in your poster and Power Point Presentation by Tuesday. We will spend the next two days doing presentations, however you must be prepared to give your presentation on October 13th.

 

I will Grade the problem in the following way

 

 

2 page report: (45 points)The student  will write a report which includes relevant and accurate information about the Country including geographical facts, government, population, important historical events, language, religions, violence, economy, etc. 

 

Poster/Power (25 points): The student’s power point or poster is a visual aid to their presentation, with pictures and photographs that show various elements of the culture of their country.

 

Presentation (15 points) Students will share their report with the class, using the poster or power point as an aid. The student will present for 3-5 minutes.

 

Grammar/Spelling: The report and presentation are written or typed neatly and clearly with no grammatical misspellings.

7th Grade Social Studies Project:

 

Use the internet to research boats and sailing.  What would life have been like for  a sailor? Create a poster showing the conditions on a sailing boat, that one of the early Explorers would have used.   Include a picture or diagram of a boat at that time, and a description of the parts.  his is due on Wednesday, October  13th.   The project will be graded on the following criteria:

 

Content (60): Include the picture/ diagram of boat, with necessary description. Include other information about sleeping quarters, dining, duties, and entertainment while on the ship.

 

Spelling and Grammar (25):  The poster is proofread; it contains perfect grammar, correct Spelling and punctuation.

 

Presentation (15): The Poster is organized, clearly labeled, glued/ taped appropriately and completely at time of delivery.

8th Grade Social Studies History Project:


There are 2 parts to this project.  Part 1: Due on October 19th.  Part 2: Due October 21st.  Part 1 may be typed.  It will be graded on the content included, grammar, and spelling.

Choose one:

You are the editor of a newspaper, and are about to submit an article about the conditions of children working in factories. Design the front page of your newspaper. Include the date, name of newspaper, headlines, one major article, an image (picture or political cartoon).

 

Create a paper or digital model of one of the inventions of this era. Explain how the contraption works in a poster.  Also include details of the inventor’s life on your poster.
