As we embark on on the 2011-2012 academic year at St. Joseph School, we also celebrate 60 Years of Excellence in Catholic Education!
The theme for this year's celebration of Catholic Schools Week is
"Catholic School:  Faith. Academics. Service."
We are proud to say that we have lived that motto for 60 years and we
will continue into the future with great pride!

This year we welcome all of our new families, especially those who have come to us from Our Lady of Charity Parish.  We hope and pray that you will feel the warmth and hospitality that is so much of who we are as a parish/school community!

We ask you to join us as we continue to celebrate the important role that Catholic elementary and secondary schools across the country play in providing a Christ centered education for America's young people. We go beyond preparation for a secular life by preparing students for a Catholic Christian life!
We are proud of our students and the contribution that they continue
to make to our country and to our world!
And, of course, very aware that we are educating our students in
21st Century Skills,
our teachers spend much time honing their own skills,
teaching techniques and classroom strategies!
Our children must be educated today to solve problems which
we can't even begin to imagine!
When we meet at the beginning of each year, we set about the task of
structuring our teaching goals for the year around infusing the very
necessary 21st Century Skills of
Critical Thinking, Collaboration, Communication and Creativity and Innovation
with the traditional, very necessary Four "R's"!
This year, along with the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, we will be implementing a new curriculum - using the Core Curriculum State Standards.
So, hopefully, you see your children working together on performance and
hands-on projects and activities that will help to develop those skills!

Don't forget to check the Home and School and Teacher Webpages for
up and coming events, projects and programs, as well as GradeBook to
keep track of your children's progress!

God Bless you all!
