Starting February 6th, we ask you to donate a penny on Monday, a nickel on Tuesday, a dime on Wednesday,a quarter on Thursday, and whatever you can on Friday. All the money collected in a homeroom will be used by that teacher to purchased books for their individual libraries or for literature circles. Thank you for yoursupport of reading.Classroom WishlistThe Book Fair also offers an easy way to make a contribution directly to your child’s classroom. The teachers have selected an assortment of books that they think will add to student knowledge and enrich their classroom libraries. When you visit the Book Fair, please consider donating a book to your child’s classroom or to the library by selecting from your child's classroom bin. Thank you for your support of reading.PEACE WEEKPeace Week will be held during the week of March 5th (the week of Terra Nova Testing.) First in Math ProgramFirst in Math - Our school has purchased a great math program for grades 1-5. We explored this program in school, and the kids are ready to use it at home! This program is a fun way to strengthen math skills and build math fluency. The students each have their individual username and password on a membership card stapled in their homework assignment books. The students can earn points for completed activities. They can track their progress and compete to become the Player of the Day. Hopefully, they have gone on the site and have earned some points for practicing Math facts. This site provides great reinforcement for basic facts. I strongly encourage you to have your child use the site at least a few times a week.
As a Christmas service project, our class wrote notes to a soldier stationed in Afghanistan and to Aja's grandmom who is currently working in Afghanistan as well. The notes were beautifully done and I know they will be very much appreciated when they are received.
Please continue to use Think Central to review for weekly reading tests.
