Field Trip to The Riverbend Environmental Center - November 2011
So this is how the Lenape Indians made fire!
The girls explained creative ways the Lenape may have used a deer's jaw bone as a tool.
We are modeling typical Lenape clothing. The Phillies hat gives it some modern flair.
Lenape babies were well taken care of too.
We gathered in the long house to create our own music on Lenape musical instruments.
We got to feel several animal furs.
We learned animals' skins, like this raccoon skin, were valuable to the Lenape.
These boys explained how the Lenape may have used this deer's femur bone as a tool.
How could we use this bone?
We gathered around the long house to learn about how the Lenape lived.
It was a beautiful day to walk along the trails.
We had a great day together!
We learned how to play some of the games the Lenape played. Walnut Toss!
Can you guess who the chief is in this game of Indian Chief?
